MachineZone is looking for an experienced Visual Effects Artist to join the Game Art team. As a visual effects artist you must have the artistic sensibility to create compelling visuals as well as the technical skills to implement them. Visual effects artists adapt to the constraints of the technology and understand when to rely on artistic ability or technical expertise to come up with a solution.
What you'll be doing:
- Create effects for a variety of characters, environments, cinematics, and UI elements.
- Extend existing effects to take advantage of new behaviors / features.
- Develop effects for both proprietary and 3rd party engines.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers on integration and implementation of effects.
- Seek and respond to feedback from art directors in a timely manner.
- Follow-up with stakeholders upon completion of work.
Your background and who you are:
- 3-5 years industry experience (mobile gaming preferred).
- Experience with one or more game engines (Unity preferred).
- Experience with revision control systems (Perforce / Git).
- Experience with basic shader / material systems.
- Experience with using geo-based effects (e.g. ribbons, trails).
- Possess a good eye for timing and motion.
- Willingness to learn new pipelines, tools and software.
