User Research Director

Guerrilla is looking for its first-ever Head of User Research! This is an exceptional opportunity to join Guerrilla and shape the future of our UR discipline. In this role, you will build out our team and capabilities, and will partner directly with our game devs as well as PlayStation’s research teams to make the highest quality player experiences.

Our future User Research Director will develop Guerrilla's approach to gathering player insights and will collaborate with our game development teams in creating exceptional game experiences possible. As leader of Guerrilla’s UR team, you will build a deep understanding of our product development cycle and find opportunities to improve the quality and consumer relevance of our games. You have a passion for video games and a keen sense of the business impact potential of user research.

What you will do

In this role, we will look to you to:

• Build and manage a healthy, inclusive team of User Research and Data Science professionals who are recognized for their skills and their understanding of dev team needs,
• Define, direct and manage all efforts related to external user-testing and in-house data analysis
• Gather player feedback and deliver high quality insights and reports to the game teams
• Develop a thorough understanding of Guerrilla’s game teams and business needs
• Design and continuously improve methodologies for successful User Testing (Focus, Appeal and Usability tests), including the use of game Telemetry data.
• Develop and oversee the technology necessary to conduct impactful research. This includes custom tools and facilities and collaborative technology which works with game development.
• Build and support relationships across the organization, both within PlayStation Studios and with SIE, platform and brand leadership teams.
• Act as an ambassador, evangelizing User Research and User-Centered Design principles internally and externally.

Who you are

We’d love to hear from you if:

• You’re an organized, analytical, methodical and self-motivated individual with a demonstrable usability, user centered design, or human factors research background.
• You have significant experience in driving and managing a user experience research discipline in the games industry, delivering across all phases of research on AAA videogame titles.
• You have a strong interest in improving player experiences and overall quality through user research.
• You show a commitment to quality work, with a deep passion for/understanding of game design.
• You have strong verbal, numerical and written communication skills; presenting information concisely and effectively to people at all levels of the organization is critical.
• You are comfortable interacting and communicating with stakeholders of different backgrounds and responsibilities.
• You have a passion and interest in videogames with an innate curiosity for understanding player motivations and behaviors.
