Job Description
As a User Interface Designer, you will be responsible for autonomously conceptualizing, mocking up, documenting, and aiding in the implementation of screens and interfaces in order to bring the vision of the Lead Designer/Creative Director into a quality playable experience. You will additionally be responsible for assessing and iterating on the player experience throughout game development and live operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Takes ownership in the design of all screen layouts, screen flows, and interface elements, as well as the planning for how they should be used in-game
- Works directly with Design, Programming, Art, and Data teams to drive development of individually owned features
- Creates all necessary art assets while aligning their design with the functional needs of the Lead Designer / Creative Director and the aesthetic vision of the Lead Artist / Art Director
- Establishes style guides for consistency of color pallet, sizing, spacing, and usability, maintaining those standards throughout development
- Facilitates user testing to ensure designs work as needed
- Consistently benchmarks the usability and user experience of new and existing products, and leverages findings to make constructive improvements in owned design
- Drives documentation and communication to the entire Production team. Keeps all relevant mock ups, animatics, prototypes, and documentation maintained for future reference
- Advocates for best practices in usability and accessibility, leveraging creative solutions to see those practices applied in game.
- Performs other tasks, as required
Qualifications
- A College Degree/Diploma in Graphic Design, User Interface Design or any other applicable educational or work-related experience
- A minimum of one (1) shipped title, with being on mobile a plus
- 2-3 years experience working within the games industry
- Excellent collaboration skills, with an ability to focus on priorities, solve problems, and meet deadlines, all while maintaining a positive outlook
- Experience in effectively communicating both written and verbally across different audiences (e.g., technical, business, and creative) on a broad range of topics
- Genuine interest and passion for games, especially F2P mobile gaming
Bonus Experience
- Experience working within a Live Operated game
- Hands-on experience working with Unity
- Experience in Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop / XD
- Experience with Figma / Miro

Studio Description
Our studio is located in the heart of the city (Halifax) within the historic and iconic Keith's Brewery Market. The Halifax Harbour is in view from our windows and lunch breaks can be spent on the boardwalk or at one of the many restaurants and cafes that populate the downtown core.
