Unreal Engine Level Designer

Job Description

In this volunteer position you will be asked to create landscapes and building interiors for The Lays of Althas: Sundered Order (LoA:SO), based off concepts and layouts, in the Unreal Engine. We are still building a long list of assets; we expect our Level Designers to be resourceful with the assets they use.

Communication is key to a smooth and efficient pipeline. You must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with other team-members. Don't be afraid to ask questions. We are an English-speaking team, so English fluency is a must. All of this is especially important for Level Designers as we expect them to communicate with 3D Artists letting them know assets that are still needed.

If you are comfortable with teaching, you may be called upon to aid the more junior members of the team in any relevant area.

Other duties include following team policies (given through team orientation as upon acceptance to the team) as well as attending meetings through Slack (our instant message program that we use to communicate)

This is a volunteer position, so no monetary compensation is being offered.

Qualifications

• Ability to create detailed landscapes and building interiors in Unreal Engine
• Ability to optimize with use of LODs (Level of Detail)
• Able to coordinate with others and communicate with team m
• Blueprint Scripting (optional, but helpful)
• Ability to create detailed heightmaps (optional, but helpful)
