The ideal candidate:

Over the next 5 years, we expect to be typically developing two to three projects in parallel, with regularly scheduled new releases added to our catalogue.

Platform Support Engineer will actively support and facilitate the building and release of our studio’s growing range of mobile games. You’ll help us select and integrate the right technologies to deliver high performance, high quality games, offering a world class experience while helping us to maximise our revenue. This role is crucial in supporting the creation and smooth release of our games in a complex and changing world.

The Platform Support engineer will need to have a broad range of technical skills and a genuine desire to stay on top of the challenges in our ecosystems as they evolve. They will be proactive in seeking out requirements and upcoming challenges, and improving our solutions ahead of time.

What You Will Do

We will depend on you to support the development/debugging of native code to support middleware used in our games. The ideal candidate will have extensive commercial experience in a similar role preferable in the mobile games industry.

Primary Responsibilities

● Maintain our builds and build machines

● Investigate and fix failing builds

● Evaluate the fitness of third-party middleware in relation to projects

● Manage iOS certificates

● Maintain CI pipelines

● Ensure Jenkins and GitLab are robustly protected with rigorous backups

● Support tools built around our CI

● Liaise with our parent company, to maintain visibility on development in Ubisoft

● Support for advertising/monetisation functionality in our products

● Support and maintenance of our User Acquisition efforts

Skills

● Strong technical experience of Unity development and build tools

● Solid native Android/iOS development experience

● Flexibility and incisive investigative skills

● Proven strengths in debugging problems on multiple platforms

● Capable of identifying performance bottlenecks and implementing optimisations

● Familiarity git, perforce and accepted workflows

● Excellent English language skills: verbal and written

Other Responsibilities

● Supporting our adherence to global privacy laws

● Maintenance of Verdaccio NPM hosting of internally developed Unity packages

● Supporting integrated testing automation (familiarity with DTEST or similar solutions would be a bonus)

● Support for hardware platforms and new mobile devices added to already supported platforms

● Handling specific requirements from vendors (ie, Samsung, Xiaomi)

● AWS / AKAMAI setup for asset bundle uploads and downloads

● Maintaining cache server infrastructures

Relevant Experience

● A degree in Computer Science or the equivalent in experience.

● 5+ years of experience of programming in C#, Objective C, Java

● 2+ years of relevant experience in platform support or closely-related work
