Unannounced Project - Concept Art Lead

Bungie is looking for a Concept Art Lead who can inspire, mentor, and push our ideation to the next level on an Unannounced Project. Does creating 2D and 3D concept art and driving a team to achieve a vision excite you? As the Concept Art Lead, you will be responsible for all aspects of planning and executing Concept Art content. You will collaborate with the Art Director to define the vision and the goals for concept art. You will manage and lead the concept artists as they execute the vision and goals. While partnering with Art Direction to translate the higher vision of the game into compelling content you will work closely with Production to ensure delivery and engage with Design to align the artistic experience with gameplay needs.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Art Direction to align and define visual goals for the game
- Lead a team of artists in creating a variety of inspirational concept art, that visualizes the tone and aesthetic design of the established Art Direction
- Manage a team of concept artists with clear direction by actively engaging with team members through frequent 1:1 check-in
- Act as the conduit between the concept team and across disciplines to identify and address concept support needs on the project
- When necessary, create highly functional concept art that inspires the team, for use by production artists, and drives the project vision forward
- Partner with the art manager to promote healthy culture for the concept team through frequent communication
- Work closely with Production to estimate project scope, escalate and mitigate project risks while ensuring task objectives and deadlines are met
- Conduct frequent constructive feedback sessions and art content reviews with concept artists to align art direction and gameplay goals
- Develop and maintain an effective concept art pipeline while identifying workflow improvements
- Maintain concept art depots and documentation to ensure content is shareable and up to date
Required Skills
- Strong sense of form language and design, keen observation, and attention to detail
- Experience empowering and mentoring artists through development cycles by providing constructive feedback
- Knowledge of games, market awareness and how art will be experienced by the player
- Advanced understanding of the core principles of 2D and 3D concept art creation
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Task driven and proactive in problem-solving
- The ability to quickly iterate on concepts and carry an idea from the conceptual phase to the finished illustration
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Strong understanding of character proportion, costume design, and spatial scale with environmental design
- Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including, but not limited to, figure drawing, landscape painting, and illustration
- Familiar with Photoshop and Painter
- 3D software knowledge not an absolute requirement
- A passion for games, animation, and films
- Experience working with outsourcing
