We have an opportunity for a UX/UI Designer to join us in Leamington Spa.
What does a UX/UI Designer Do At Electric Square?
UX/UI Designer can mean many things (it’s two jobs for a start) so let’s explain what we’re looking for - someone to take responsibility for making our games easy to understand, access and use. We work in small teams, hence the need to bundle these two closely aligned but discrete roles together. We work across many formats, genres and business models and
we want someone who sees this breadth of role and work as exciting, not a chore. We are firm believers that people should be the best them they can be, and we want to find someone we can genuinely give opportunities to grow and excel.
- Researches, designs and tests wonderful user experiences for our games.
- Works within the design team to deliver pleasing and satisfying UI.
- Creates wireframes and prototypes of UI and interactions.
- Collaborates with the entire team to ensure that the player has the engaging, motivating and emotionally satisfying experiences we hope to deliver.
- Along with UI Artists, devises the perfect art style for the User Interface.
- Upholds and celebrates UX design quality throughout the product and across the team.
- Actively gets the game in the hands of players and uses the insights gained to ensure the game is both lovely to play and delivers on its commercial goals.
- In the most wholesome way imaginable, loves what they do, and we can tell. (This isn’t a codeword for crunch. The day is over. Go home. So to speak…)
Requirements
Things We’d Love To See From You:
- The ability to design, prototype and refine user experiences and interfaces, working with developers, game designers and artists to establish design goals and see designs from concept to shipping quality.
- Experience of the UI system on Unity in particular - canvases, world scales, anchoring, hierarchies
- Appreciable applicable experience and a preference for having shipped at least one title of reasonable scale. This is a vital role and while we want you to grow and thrive, we do need confidence that we are in safe hands.
- A practical understanding of UI/UX design across a range of devices and platforms, and an understanding of F2P best practice.
- The ability to prototype UI to convey and interpret concepts and ideas.
- A history of working with user testing and/or data analysis to test and refine designs throughout various phases of development.
- Passionate, curious, motivated, and open to giving and receiving constructive criticism.
- A fascinatingly broad palette of references and inspirations to draw from and educate us with.
- Able to work well as a team player in a collaborative environment.
- Academic qualifications might be a plus, but your work is what matters.
- A love of creating unforgettable, utterly loveable gaming experiences for the audience!
If you are wondering if you should apply or not, we sincerely hope that you do! You may wish to read that sentence again. Good luck!
