UX Researcher

Job Description:
Wargaming is looking for a UX Researcher for our growing Center of Player Insights. You will work directly with games teams in speaking up for the player and having the opportunity to directly influence the development of our products. You will use a variety of methods that you consider best fit based on your expertise, research requests, and product life phase. In this role, you will work on our live service games, as well as in-development titles.
You will have the opportunity to develop and evangelize the playtesting process within Wargaming. You will contribute to our brand-new playtesting lab in the Austin studio. You will also work on establishing user testing within the US Region.
You should have a passion for video games and an understanding of the gaming experience. You are motivated in working in close collaboration with other team members and game developers, as well as a self-starter. You will also be encouraged to educate the team based on your expertise, and feed into the research strategy of the department.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead UX Research projects based on the requests of the games teams
- Own the research process of individual projects across their lifespan (research scope and planning, project management, fieldwork, analysis, reporting and presentation).
- Conduct research projects using various research methodologies including playtesting, usability testing, expert review, longitudinal testing, concept testing, large and small scale questionnaires, focus groups, and one-to-one interviews. This is for remote and in-person research.
- Support the development and be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the playtesting lab in Austin, TX.
- Evangelize the role and benefits of user experience across the company.
- Contribute to the Center for Player Insights research strategy.
- Support members of the Center for Player Insights conducting research.
- Manage third-party vendors when conducting research projects.
Job Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience with UX Research, ideally within the video game industry.
- Degree in Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Sociology, or related field.
- Experience in usability testing, longitudinal testing, concept testing, and survey design.
- Experience in focus-groups, one-to-one interviews, creative methods
- End-to-end experience with all aspects of the user research life cycle (project management, study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting, communication, budgeting research).
- In-depth knowledge of user experience and user research methodology and theory.
- Experience with survey design tools (Alchemer, Qualtrics, Survey Monkey etc.) and data analytic tools (SPSS, Stata, R etc.)
- Passion for games and game user experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Curiosity and creativity, enjoying complex issues, and problem solving.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to quickly build quick rapport and establish credibility.
Additional Skills:
- Experience in managing and conducting in-house playtests in lab-based conditions.
- Experience in remote testing using external platforms (Playtest Cloud, Antidote, UserZoom).
- Understanding of the game development process.
- SQL Experience
- Experience playing Wargaming titles.
- Fluency in second language advantageous.
