Senior / Lead UX Researcher, Defence
At Improbable, we’re bringing together technology and games to create new opportunities and experiences. In order to achieve this, we need unique perspectives from diverse people, empowered to revolutionise how online games are made, delivered and paid for.
We believe one of the biggest, most impactful changes to the way we live our lives is going to come from the medium of games. Realising new communities, societies and vocations through virtual worlds is what drives our people and gives them purpose.
Your mission
We are hiring an experienced UX researcher to be a constant advocate as we build a new suite of simulation software with complex challenges around data-ingestion, intuitive design, turn-based wargaming, mapping, simulation playback and more. The platform we are building leverages our two core competencies, distributed simulation and probabilistic machine learning in a brand new way.
Your Impact:
- You will play a pivotal role, putting hyper focus on our users (military tacticians, from junior to very senior).
- You will embed the voice of the customer into our product as we build it, not just "add it in" later. We are at early stages and you will be a key stakeholder in shaping production direction.
- You will advocate for our unique, complex, and varied web of users; focussing on their needs and ensuring we're building an effective platform.
- In the first phase of work you will embed with the customer (North London, tube, 2-3 days per week) for a period of deep discovery - expect a lot of user interviews and qualitative research
- You will design, conduct, analyze, and report results of user-centered design research and usability testing, with an emphasis on early-stage studies such as contextual interviews and uncovering existing user journeys.
- You will lead and help facilitate collaborative workshops (internal and with customers) for a range of purposes (e.g., discovery, product scope and definition).
- You will work closely with our Product team to provide quantitative and qualitative user insights directly into the product design and development process, and to prioritize research needs.
- You will take a lead on content strategy, helping ensure accuracy of tone and relevance to the users that you will know well
- You will interact with key decision makers across UK military and beyond and will be a key product feedback channel to improve our offering
We'd like to hear from you if you identify with some of the following:
- Significant experience as a UX Researcher or equivalent, preferably with experience at the early stages of product development
- Experience building a UX Research strategy for a product or business; able to show how your work has contributed to the development of a product
- Experience nurturing or significantly contributing to a product content strategy
- Experience working closely with product, engineering and customer teams as a customer advocate & feedback channel
- Broad UX Research toolkit that can be applied to a range of features, users and products.
While we think the above experience could be important, we’re keen to hear from people that believe they have valuable experience to bring to the role. If you identify with the team and mission, but not all of our requirements, then please still apply!!
