The User Experience Designer supports their project team by producing various deliverables (e.g. wireframes, pre-visualization prototypes, mock-ups, documentation) to help visualize and contextualize features and design initiatives. They work closely with project leads to align on experience conventions and collaborate with team members across Design, Art and Engineering to bring their designs to life inside a live mobile gaming product.
Responsibilities
- Drive and lead UX initiatives on live-ops features and new game development
- Produce wireframes, pre-visualization prototypes, mock-ups and design documentation for studio project teams
- Help facilitate cross-functional design discussions/workshopping sessions and represent the voice of the player during these sessions
- Be a champion for UX design standards and help educate team members on usability best practices
- Work closely with production to plan, estimate and track design deliverables to ensure the team is well-supported throughout the project’s life cycle
Requirements
- 6+ yrs experience as UX designer. 4+ yrs minimum in mobile game development
- Experience designing user interfaces and interaction structures for successful game titles
- Degree in Design/Media Arts/Human-Computer Interaction or equivalent experience in a corresponding field
- Experience and proven track record designing within the mobile space (responsive design experience necessary)
- Proficiency with visual design tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, etc.) and pre-visualization/prototyping tools (e.g. Adobe XD, Flinto etc.)
- A demonstrated knowledge of UX best practices, supported through work samples or a portfolio that can validate your approach to experience design. THIS IS REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR POSITION
- Ability to understand the key pillars of a game or feature and iterate toward the best player experience possible
- Experience as a cross discipline communicator that collaborates with engineers, artists, designers, product managers, POs
Desirable
- Gamer who understands and deconstructs successful UX
- Familiarity with user research trends/procedures and experience organizing/conducting usability tests on proprietary products
- Familiarity with features and interaction conventions in the mobile free-to-play gaming space
- Working knowledge of the Unity game development platform
- Experience working within a sprint structure alongside a multi-disciplined team
- At least three launched mobile gaming titles
