Apply

Harebrained Schemes is looking for an experienced and versatile UI/UX Graphic Designer to contribute to our design efforts on an unannounced project. You’ll collaborate with the Game Director and HBS team to establish and then advocate for great UI/UX graphic design in our game. If you are a thoughtful collaborator, with a deep understanding of—and appreciation for—player experiences in tactical and strategy games, we’d love to talk with you.

This is a full time, individual contributor role that can be fully remote for candidates able to work Pacific Time hours with preference given to those who are available to work on-site two days a week in our hybrid Kirkland, WA office.

All interviews will be done virtually.

What You’ll Do

  • Create polished, aesthetically exciting UI that complements and adds to the project's established creative vision and art direction.
  • Work with the Art Director and UX team to establish a strong graphic design language for a project's user experience that communicates key information.
  • Develop the UI visual style through from project start to ship, ensuring that the UI experience remains communicative, cohesive, and captivating.
  • Work directly within the studio’s pipeline to bring the game’s UX to life.
  • Author shipping-quality UI art assets.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Design and UX teams to iterate and improve the overall UI visual experience based on feedback and testing - throughout the product's development and continuing into post-launch.

What You’ll Bring

  • An eye for pleasing design, you can create visually stunning designs that don’t sacrifice the player’s ability to make key decisions in tactical and strategy games.
  • Ability to work quickly in interface design tools such as Figma to help the team iterate on concepts.
  • A command of visual design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and AfterEffects.
  • Ability to collaborate and work across disciplines to communicate a vision for the project’s user experience.
  • You can learn, or have prior experience, working directly in an engine such as Unity or Unreal (our projects are in Unity).
  • You enjoy playing complex titles, like the ones released by Harebrained Schemes and Paradox Interactive.
  • You have an iterative mindset. You like to prototype early, iterate often, and then polish.

Nice to Haves

  • Experience with motion graphics and animation tools.
  • Experience shipping tactical or strategy titles on PC and console.
