UI Scripter
A UI Scripter is someone who takes the mocks completed by an artist and the data passed to us by the SEs and connects them to make a screen that displays the data as it should and pixel perfect matches the mock.
What a UI Scripter does at EA:
- Programs, creates, and debugs various UI elements using ActionScript, including frontend and in-game components.
- Ensure the game's text assets and numerical data are properly Localized (EFIGS), including making updates to the localization database.
- Develops and supports the creation of UI design, game menus, interactive prototypes, artwork, and motion design to meet design goals and support the look and feel
- User interface aspects of games that ties in the front end UI with the backend code base
- Manipulates UI content and assets. Responsible for optimizing file size and configurations.
- Specs out art tasks and generates time estimates when needed
The next great EA UI Scripter also needs:
- Degree in Art, Animation, Design, or related field preferred
- Experience with ActionScript or similar scripting language
- Experience with Flash, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Knowledge of Object Oriented Principles
- Experience Flash Builder, Flashdevelop, or similar
- Strong problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
- A visual eye and an eye for detail.
