Answering to the Lead UI/UX Designer, and in collaboration with the Game Design team, the Producer, and the Programing teams, the UI Designer is in charge of the whole UI creation process, from the initial Design, to the Art creation, until the final game-integration.
Responsibilities
Being aware of current UI trends in the game industry, he/she will ensure that the user experience is seamless and intuitive on all platforms, and that the UI art style is consistent throughout the game with a high degree of usability and readability.
He/She will integrate UI assets, animate, and document them. In collaboration with UI programmers, he/she will implement these assets in-game and ensure that the UI fits in technical constraints.
- Contribute to the Design process and define ergonomics by making UI wireframes and navigation flows.
- Define the UI Art guidelines (graphic identity, colors, iconography, fonts).
- Conceptualize the different UI and HUD elements within these Art guidelines: front-end menus, HUD, loading screens, etc.
- Integrate assets and animate them.
- Work with UI programmers to implement them in-game.
- Assist with any design tasks in relation with UI (companion apps, social features, etc).
- Improve UI based on team/users feedbacks.
Qualifications
- Experience in the field of UI whether as an Artist or Designer, ideally in the video game industry.
- Good knowledge of Adobe software’s (Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate, …).
- Good understanding of Art and interactive UX application.
- Analytical thinking: Capacity to quickly understand game design rules, mechanics, balancing concepts and techniques.
- Creativity: think outside the box, being able to see things in a different perspective.
- Is a passionate gamer with a solid video game culture.
- Good written/spoken English.
- Experience with an existing video game editor is a plus (Unity3D, Unreal, …)
- Scripting knowledge is a plus.
