UI Artist - Victoria 3

Paradox Development Studio Red makes world-leading grand strategy games that our fans spend hundreds of hours in, and our artists make sure we do it in style! We’re now looking for a 2D UI Artist to join the Victoria 3 development team in Stockholm.

About the role

You will be the bridge between our UX and 2D art team, and be responsible for implementing the UX wireframe designs into the game engine, making sure the UI looks great, and is accessible and easy to understand for the player.

You will also help to develop the overall look of our UIs with a meticulous eye for detail, high quality artwork and a strong knowledge of UX. You will be working closely with the Art Director in shaping the overall vision for Victoria 3, and be a driver for visual improvements and accessibility. You will hands on craft our game art by creating UI elements, art assets, art styles and some supporting artwork. There will also be opportunities to work with animation and bring original and modern takes on UI.

Essential:

• ~ 1-3 years of experience creating user interfaces from concept, through prototype to final
• Strong knowledge of UX to facilitate collaboration with our UX team.
• Proven skill in creating high quality modern UI art from scratch
• Articulate in contextualizing decisions, communicating ideas and giving feedback
• Comfortable using English in spoken and written form
• Experience with scripting and markup languages such as Javascript and HTML

Desirable:

• A passion for history and the strategy game genre
• A good eye for typography, composition and color
• Strong traditional art skills
• Experience with motion graphics software such as After Effects
• 3D experience in e.g. Blender or Maya
• General scripting skills and basic programming experience
