Job Description
thatgamecompany is looking for an experienced leader in software quality assurance to lead our in-studio testing team. We are a fully remote team that operates on a core hours model, and as such are highly flexible with work hours and locations. We are a growing company that seeks to bring joy and happiness to millions through the medium of gaming.
As a Test Manager on our team you will be responsible for personnel and project management of our Quality Assurance analysts, determining strategic initiatives to execute on directives of senior management related to our Quality Assurance department, and you will be accountable for delegating day to day operations of our Quality Assurance assets and working closely with our Quality Assurance Lead to create QA department roadmaps and individual development strategies for our internal testing team. You will also be responsible for coordination with external partner assets related to the holistic test effort.
Responsibilities
- Forecast and manage the product test schedules, needs, dependencies, and resources.
- Lead, recruit, and coach a team toward individual and team excellence.
- Provide frequent and regular risk analysis to senior leadership including but not limited to project, schedule, operational, or technical risks that may impact the final delivery to the consumer.
- Work with internal and external partners to innovate technology and process improvements into the product SDLC to improve quality, reliability, scalability, and predictability.
- Accountable for the quality of all deliverables, workflows, and relationships for the test team.
- Develop the master test plans and test strategy for Sky: Children of the Light.
- Set and report against annual and continuous improvement goals for the Quality Assurance organization.
- Champion and influence software development best practices for the betterment of the consumer experience.
- Provide direct coaching for junior project and personnel leadership in the Quality Assurance organization.
Must Haves
- 5+ years of experience in personnel management, project management, and quality assurance as either an individual contributor or manager.
- A learning-oriented mindset; you will be expected to identify and correct areas of improvement with oversight and guidance from senior management, while also providing constructive and reinforcing feedback to all levels of the organization.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly in both written and verbal communication as well as providing effective executive updates to senior management.
- Practical knowledge of advanced testing techniques.
- Experience with managing external partnerships and relationships
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Nice to Haves
- A deep understanding of thatgamecompany’s game portfolio, Sky as a product, and the Sky community and user base
- ISTQB Test Management Certification (Advanced Test Manager or Expert Test Management)
- Advanced knowledge of Atlassian suite, specifically Jira Cloud
- Familiar with first party requirements based testing (Lot check, TRC/XR, etc.)
- Experience with forming new test teams and expanding internal testing capabilities.
- MBA or equivalent experience
- Actively playing Sky and able to demonstrate an understanding of the core features and systems in the game
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese or Japanese.
