The Xbox DVT Consumer Acceptance Team is looking for an test automation engineer in an ongoing effort of qualifying Xbox hardware. We provide many services to the rest of the Xbox HW validation group in the form of system level validation processes. In order to serve our customer needs, we are looking for an engineer who can help manage most of the day-to-day activities for these services while also providing improvements to both workflows across the org. This is an opportunity to work with many different customers and technologies spanning all of Xbox HW and Accessories. Working closely with 3rd party teams and compatibility validation teams and external lab houses, this role will be critical to keeping validation services running smoothly.
Note: Candidates must either be vaccinated against COVID-19, or have been previously been infected.
Responsibilities:
- Manual and automated test validation of HW/SW/FW/OS
- Review, maintain, and develop a set of test suite scripts
- Maintain and update unit tests and BVT validation scripts
- Run and analyze results of focused automation testing based on change lists or design updates
- Understand and use each test measuring equipment from Power Test HW Infrastructure
- Design, develop, and validate new test cases for new and current product features
- Troubleshoot automated failures and complete failure analysis when necessary.
- Provide status update to lead on activities. Keep work items up to date in ADO.
- Manage task and bugs from automation test development through ADO and work with team members from end to end.
- Utilize in-house and external test tools to validation functionality
- Monitor telemetry for failure trends
- Test on mobile devices using their inhouse device lab or supplier provided mobile devices
Requirements
- 3 – 5 years Hardware test experience with full product lifecycle experience
- 1 – 3 years’ experience with a scripting language (Perl, Python, PowerShell)
- Experience running automation test scripts and applications
- Familiarity with system level testing
- Experience performing data analysis to analyze automation test results
- Experience driving validation activities and large bug count triages
- Cross team collaboration/communication
- Experience with any bug reporting software (ADO preferred)
Preferred:
- Electrical Engineering background
- Passion for quality and finding issues
- Familiar with IoT Devices/Technologies (RPI, Arduino, Teensy)
- Familiar with Microsoft’s bug and test case management system
- Previous Xbox or MS experience and/or Passion for Xbox Gaming
