Technical and UX Writing Manager, Defence

Improbable Defence’s product group exists to build products which enable governments and defence organisations to use synthetic environments to plan and train more effectively.
You will lead, develop and grow a team of Technical and UX Writers. You will represent your team and advocate for the value of Technical and UX Writing in the business. You will be responsible for evolving and maturing the Technical and UX Writing team and their processes. You will work closely with the rest of the Product Design and Content team, with the wider Product team, and with other stakeholders across the business.
Your Opportunity:
- Team growth: You will be responsible for recruiting a team of Technical and UX writers, defining a sustainable and scalable growth strategy.
- Team professional and personal growth: You will enable your team to deliver their best work, ensuring they are motivated, productive and efficient and their activity is not blocked. You will organise team training and upskilling opportunities.
- Advocacy: You will represent your team to the wider business to ensure they are set up for success, and so their expertise, values and preferred optimal ways of working are well-understood and respected. You will encourage a content-first approach to UX design, working closely with our Product Designers to ensure our applications are easy to use.
- DocOps maturity: You will work closely with your team to help grow and evolve Technical and UX Writing operations. You will iterate and continually improve our operating model, ways of working, standards and processes according to best practice.
Why You're Made for This:
- Experience as a Technical or UX Writer or very similar role, writing end-to-end user interface copy and/or user-facing documentation
- Experience reviewing other people’s writing and giving constructive feedback
- Manager experience overseeing at least 3 people
- Experience in leading the engagement and influencing of stakeholders
- Ability to make an impact in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

This role is hybrid so partly in-office and partly remote. We are located in London, with some travel required to customer and user locations. Flexibility will also be required so that you can join in-office team activities when required.
