Overview
id Software is looking for a Technical Writer to join our development team of legendary id titles like DOOM and QUAKE. This individual will facilitate a culture of technical writing standards, education, and best practices in the studio.
Responsibilities
- Work with development and support teams to author helpful documentation for the studio
- Review, collaborate, improve, and provide feedback on submitted documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and standardization
- Plan, develop, prioritize, and execute developer-focused, data-informed content plans and sprint plans
- Create tutorial content such as videos, infographics, and workshop modules to educate fellow studio members of cross-disciple tools and content
- Identify documentation needs proactively.
- Identify and resolve issues relating to documentation structure, documentation design, and deliverables.
- Promote cross-team collaboration.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience writing for a technical audience
- OR equivalent experience
- You have strong written and verbal English skills
- Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Atlassian Confluence, or similar Wiki software.
- Excellent team player with very strong work ethic and a collaborative/cooperative attitude
Preferred Skills
- Degree in English, Technical Communications, Computer Science, or similar field; or related experience
- Experience with video editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro or similar.
- Ability to influence without authority and balance thought leadership with execution.
- Ability to make effective decisions based on business needs and constraints; demonstrate a pragmatic approach to solving complex problems with a bias for action.
