Develop the tools for creators to build incredible things
Developing the Unity platform means designing, building, testing, and maintaining new features and products that enable artists, modellers and developers to create rich and interactive content. We are driving the future of how content is created and experienced.
Unity Technologies provides an end-to-end solution for game services and player lifecycle management. These products enable developer success by helping to acquire, engage, connect, and monetize users.
The opportunity
As a Technical Writer for the Operate Solutions Documentation team, you will create clear, concise, and accessible documentation that drives end-user adoption and success. You’ll partner with engineering, product, marketing, and legal teams to ensure the publication of timely, high quality content. As a senior writer, you will also mentor junior writers while influencing the direction and growth of the team.
This is a full-time position in Edinburgh, with the option to work remotely. If you enjoy distilling technical complexities into bite-sized, digestible pieces, this is an opportunity to empower developers to achieve their goals and maximize their potential.
What you’ll be doing
- Author and update consumer-facing technical documentation for Unity services.
- Review content for other writers, according to the Unity style guide.
- Work with product managers and engineers to understand each feature’s underlying technology, target audience, and documentation needs.
- Work on a globally distributed team, maintaining active communication with partners across North America, Europe, and Asia.
- Drive strategic projects and provide leadership for junior writers on the team.
What we’re looking for
- Excellent written English skills.
- Consistent record of distilling sophisticated technical concepts into clear, easy to understand, user-focused documentation.
- Successful track record delivering high-quality content in a fast-paced software development environment.
- Ability to handle multiple writing assignments simultaneously, and seamlessly shift between those assignments depending on priority.
You might also have
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with a focus on writing.
- Experience peer-reviewing other writers, working within a style guide.
- Solid understanding of ad tech, monetization, and player retention strategies in games.
- Some coding experience, or proven ability to learn (especially C#, Javascript, Objective-C, XML, and markdown).
- Game development experience (especially with the Unity engine), or a passion for games.
- Exposure to data science and machine-learning technology.
- Experience working with and implementing content management systems.
