Technical Writer - IT (Contract)

Epic Games Information Technology team is looking for a smart, creative Technical Writer to join the Information Technology team in Cary, North Carolina on a 6 month contract! You’ll work closely with IT professionals and the Information Architect to document internal systems and services, create wiki content, and work on special projects. Your days will include:
- Interviewing subject matter experts and understanding the inner workings of Epic’s IT services.
- Creating, editing, and maintaining documentation to support IT administrators and end-users by working closely with our enterprise applications, operations, and support teams.
- Updating outdated documentation and reorganizing content to improve findability.
- Collaborating on an assistive technology project for the Support Helpdesk (e.g., Slackbot or chatbot).
- Performing User Experience tests and recommending improvements to user-facing systems.
You’ll bring:
- Interest in writing technical documentation and have a degree in writing or a related area of study (English, communications, or journalism; computer science with a minor in English/Communications also considered).
- Experience creating written software or hardware documentation, tutorials, wiki content, training, and other technical documents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear manner.
- Strong technical abilities and experience documenting software preferred. Example of project work and technical writing samples is required.
- Aptitude for quickly learning new technology and technical concepts.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills who independently takes projects to completion.
- Experience in a software development or IT engineering team with the ability to read and understand code is highly desired.
- Experience with Confluence (required), JIRA, Git/Github and training or instructional design (desired).
