Your Mission

As a technical writer at Improbable, you’ll be part of a team making sure that our users have the information and resources they need to use SpatialOS successfully, from getting started to shipping a game.

You’ll focus on user-facing documentation, but might also work on command-line help, copy and help in our web UIs, blog posts, technical diagrams and more. To see what our documentation is like, go to docs.improbable.io .

Depending on what’s needed, you’ll create, update, review, reorganise, and remove documentation, in collaboration with software engineers, QA engineers, product managers and product marketing. We have a strong culture of developers contributing to our docs, so collaborating with developers on what they write is a big part of the job. For your day-to-day work, you’re likely to be embedded on a development team, but you’ll also be part of a supportive team of technical writers who work together across Improbable products.

Areas for Impact

/ With your excellent written and spoken communication skills, you’ll help the business and our customers master our technology.

/ You’ll add experience working on very complex technical topics and explain them clearly.

/ You’ll review and critic other writing and relay constructive feedback

/ You will be able to empathise with your target developer audience and advocate for them

/ You’ll create step-by-step tutorial-style learning materials for games and services technology.

We’d like to hear from you if you identify with the following

/ You bring a minimum two years’ experience of writing user-facing documentation.

/ You can quickly grasp complex technical topics and be able to explain them in a democratic way.

/ Ability to empathise with your target audience, and advocate for them.

/ You have a strong team spirit with the humility and maturity to want to help others around you.

/ Demonstrable experience with software version control systems

/ Games technology or business to developer experience highly desirable

Disclaimer

While we think the above experience could be important, we can’t predict the future and so we’re keen to hear from applicants that believe they have valuable experience. If you identify with the team & mission, but not all of the suggestions, then please still apply!
