At coherence, we consider documentation to be an essential part of the user experience.
We’re looking for an experienced technical writer or documentation lead with passion and drive who can quickly form good working relationships with the engineering teams at coherence, and work collaboratively to produce clear and concise documentation that helps our customers get the most from our technology and tools.
This role includes writing new documentation from scratch, revising and finalising documentation drafts provided by the development team, overhauling legacy documentation and ensuring consistency in style, tone and accuracy across the entire documentation.
Our ideal candidate has an engineering background in software development, and combines a technical aptitude with excellent writing and editing skills.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the product and engineering teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and to identify and prioritize documentation requirements.
- Write developer-focused documentation describing and explaining features, processes and tools.
- Gather, summarize and edit subject-specific knowledge from our internal development teams and make it available to our customers.
- Collaborate with engineers to improve documentation content and user experience.
- Champion the role and importance of documentation within coherence.
- Design and create documentation templates, standards and style guides to help create clear, concise and consistent content.
Requirements
- Passion for games, technology, and / or writing.
- 4+ years of working experience in technical writing of software documentation.
- Excellent writing skills in English.
- Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
Bonus points
- Knowledge of programming languages or experience as a programmer.
- Basic experience with photo and video editing.
- Background in software or game development.
- Experience with markdown or HTML.
- Experience with online documentation systems like GitBook, Readme, etc.
