Your Mission:

Sledgehammer Games is seeking a Technical UI Designer for an exciting, unannounced project. You will bridge the gap between UI Engineering, UX Design, and UI Art. You will be responsible for converting design wireframes into maintainable, extensible script in our custom Lua-based UI engine. You will also be responsible for making prototype UI using our proprietary UI tool.

Candidates should have a good understanding of human-software interaction and experience communicating complex information with simple aesthetics. The ideal candidate is passionate, loves making great games and has a fundamental understanding of art, design and engineering principles. Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with UI a rtists, UX designers, and UI engineers to create an exceptional overall player experience throughout the game

  • Use proprietary UI editor and scripting (Lua) to implement UI art & motion , in collaboration with various team members , to ensure visual fidelity

  • Create in-engine functional prototypes based on UX wireframes

  • Evaluate performance and ensure the UI is as optimal as possible by balancing art needs with technical restraints

  • Debug and work with QA to meet functional standards

  • Contribute documentation to uphold a practice of k nowledge sharing around processes, best practices, and workflow

Player Profile:

  • 3+ years of experience in technical design, UI tech art or another similar field

  • Good understanding of UI, UX and motion design principle s

  • Solid implementation and technical design knowledge foundation using a scripting language such as Lua or other engines’ UI editor tools

  • Creative problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills

  • Work ethic that leans towards communication, collaboration, and empathy

  • Working knowledge o f Photoshop

Extra Points:

  • Understanding of materials and shaders for UI

  • Experience with visual design

  • Proficiency with other Figma and Adobe Creative Suite tools

  • Practical experience with other C-based languages
