Job Description:

The Overwatch team is looking for an accomplished Technical UI Designer with experience working in a game engine to help create and implement an engaging user experience. The work will be at the core of our player experience, from the intro screen to the in-game HUD. Our ideal candidate will understand the project vision and create user experiences that will be both intuitive and stay true to the visual identity of the game. You will be working closely with other UI/UX designers, system & gameplay designers, engineers, and design/art leads to create awesome features for Overwatch.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other UX/UI Designers to create user flows and layouts
  • Use propriety UI editor and scripting to implement UI art and motion in collaboration with various team members that stays true to the Overwatch visual style
  • Collaborate with UI Engineers and Gameplay Engineers to create in-engine functional prototypes based on UX wireframes
  • Work together with the team throughout the design process, gathering actionable feedback and iterating at the appropriate levels

Requirements

  • Ideal candidate has a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technical UI design, or another related field
  • Solid technical knowledge working in a game engine and UI scripting languages
  • Experience creating UI for multiple platforms – PC, consoles
  • Good understanding of the Overwatch visual style, and UX and motion design principles
  • Working knowledge of Figma, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Positive attitude and an ability to receive and provide objective feedback
  • Able to work creatively in a demanding team environment while helping others
  • Passion for playing and making games

Pluses

  • Proficient in After Effects, Adobe Animate, or other motion graphic tools
  • Can apply an existing aesthetic to your layouts and prototypes
  • Experience in designing UI/UX for multiplayer games
  • Knowledgeable about online gameplay and first-person shooters
  • Practical experience with C-based languages

Submission / Portfolio requirements

  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant design skills required
  • Only online artwork submissions will be accepted (e.g. website, blog or online album).
  • Must be willing to complete a UI/UX test during the interview if requested to do so

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $92,920.00 - $171,814.00 Annual. This base pay range is for the U.S. and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
