Position Summary
Come be a part of the future of Tomb Raider ! As a Senior UI Technical Artist, you will be responsible for solving technical problems and establishing pipelines to produce high quality visual design that adheres to a cohesive style guide and maintains consistency within the visual direction determined by the Art Director. In this position you will be a key person working within the UI Department: building, implementing, and optimizing UI assets, maintaining the technical specs for the UI based on the UX design and overall visual direction for the UI.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Partner with both UI and tools engineers, the UI Director and Art Directors to establish and execute on the UI aesthetic with the tools and process
- Implementing and maintaining UI assets in the game’s engine
- Deliver proper technical designs and documentation ensuring best practices
- Create, edit, and optimize high quality UI assets and animations
- Develop visual systems that achieve goals from both game design and UX perspectives
- Test functionality and bug fixing to ensure work is end user ready
- Contribute to the design and streamlining of UI tools and processes
- Maintain deadlines and unblocking content and design team members
- Optimize graphics and assist with shader and material development
- Execute layout designs with provided tools
- Analyze different aspect ratios and be able to understand how it can impact anchor-based layouts
- Work within input systems across different platforms
- Utilize understanding of game navigation and common UI pattern to conceptualize, present, and execute ideas
Essential Requirements
- Experience in UI Development or Technical Art for at least 1 shipped pc/console title
- Intermediate visual scripting (preference for C#, other programming skills and markup languages like XAML)
- Experience with Unreal Engine
- Portfolio that showcases player-facing UI work (or ability to verbality articulate what needs to be done to maintain high quality bar)
Bonus Skills & Experience
- Motion Design Experience
- Maya Experience
- Ability to visualize game design is a plus
- Experience around graphic design and illustration
