Technical Artist

A NEW AND EXCITING ROLE!

East Side Games is working with our exciting new IP, The Office: Somehow we Manage to create a fun Narrative Idle mobile game. In terms of scope, this is our biggest game project to date! As a Technical Artist, you’re technically minded with an artist’s eye - bridging the Art & Engineering disciplines to implement content and develop features in Unity. Please be aware that we are a remote-first studio, hiring across Canada, and do not provide an office space for employees.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Work with the other disciplines to improve or develop new features.
• Assure Characters & Backgrounds delivered are made to project specifications - this can include, but not limited to: naming, transform and scaling, file setup, and organization.
• Export Character assets from Adobe Animate, rig in Spine, and implement Actor Data in Unity.
• Set up Backgrounds for export from Adobe Animate.
• Implement the background assets in unity, setting proper layer orders, 9-slicing and duplicating where planned in the export phase.
• Create a "Set" for the background and set up "Slots" and "Cameras" for the Story Sequence Tool.
• Collaborate with all disciplines to ensure that all storytelling asset needs are met and that they remain fully functional in Unity.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

• A basic understanding of Unity is essential! We’re looking for specific experience on mobile games such as: creating prefabs, game objects and components, navigating inspector, hierarchy, and project windows with ease.
• A complete knowledge of Spine and it’s full feature set.
• A basic understanding of Adobe Animate, how symbols function, good organizational skills with layers, keys, timeline, and library.
• A minimum of 3 years experience in Game Development, or related industries. Mobile, F2P, or idle game experience is a HUGE plus!
• Exceptional time management skills and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic studio.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and orally.
• Autonomy and a problem-solving mindset.
