Technical Sound Designer

We are looking for a talented Technical Sound Designer to join our award-winning sound design team!
At Creative Assembly, you will be part of the audio team to create, implement, maintain and debug complex audio playback systems within the game. The ideal candidate is extremely experienced working with audio middleware (Wwise, Fmod, etc.) and thrives on bridging the gap between creative and technical implementation challenges.
We have one of the largest audio departments in Europe in which you will collaborate with our Sound Design, Dialogue, Music, Audio Programming and Audio QA teams. Our facilities include separated and well-equipped audio rooms, 2 isolated recording rooms and state of the art recording equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Work along-side audio programmers and sound designers to develop the framework of audio playback systems and implementation tools supporting the creative audio vision and game-play needs. Define and apply best practices of technical audio workflows and systems, and collaborate with various disciplines (art, design, and engineering) to ensure audio systems are incorporated into all aspects of game-play and fully realised.
To implement high quality audio assets within the audio engine while managing Wwise project organisation, structures, gameplay parameter setups and optimisations.
Help support the audio vision of the game by working with your lead and sound team, troubleshooting and debugging audio tools, systems and functionality. You will be responsible for documenting audio systems and tools, educating the content creators in audio best practice.
Keep abreast of current trends with game audio technology and through your continued exposure to contemporary gaming and technical developments, help keep our game audio tools and technology fresh, innovative and creative to work with.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience
Essential
- Professional sound design experience in the video game industry and or at least 1 published AAA title credited
- Extensive knowledge of integrating audio into modern game engines
- Highly proficient with Audiokinetic’s Wwise
- Knowledge of and experience with building and maintaining modern audio systems for AAA titles
- Experience with audio recording, processing and mixing techniques
- Proficient with modern day audio software tools (Pro-Tools, Reaper, Plugins)
Desirable
- Knowledge and familiarity of Total War brand a bonus
- Ability to work as a team player and under own initiative
