Avalanche Studios is seeking a Technical Sound Designer (TSD) with heart, to join the audio team on our latest AAA project, Contraband. Challenges include working with proprietary tools including the Apex game engine and our own modular audio framework, and integrating those tools with the Wwise audio engine.

By joining our team of audio developers, you’ll be taking on the responsibility of creating and supporting our game’s audio systems and pipelines, as well as developing in-game content. Our ideal team member will have a healthy balance of creative and technical problem solving abilities, as both will be needed for the role. Half of a game’s audio quality is determined by implementation, and as the Technical Sound Designer you’ll be responsible for expanding and maintaining the framework that makes that implementation possible.

Our Interview Process:

  1. If your qualifications are a good match, we’ll initiate a call with you and a recruitment representative to align and review your CV together.
  2. Next, an interview with a selection of our Project and Sound Leads to present the role and responsibilities, and ask questions about your past work and projects.
  3. A short written test showcasing your technical writing and problem solving skills, with real world problems we’d present a technical sound designer.
  4. Finally, a feedback meeting with a selection of our Sound Department to discuss your test, the immediate project work, and your long term goals
