Technical Project Manager – Network Engineering & Operations
Adelaide, Australia
As a part of Sony Interactive Entertainment, PlayStation is leading the cloud gaming revolution, putting console-quality video games on any device; and the Network Engineering & Operations team is at the forefront of building and operating the global network that makes this possible.
As a Technical Project Manager in the Network Engineering & Operations team you will be responsible for the coordination and planning of both day-to-day operations and deployment work; as well as complex engineering projects that span multiple teams working together around the globe.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the scheduling, prioritization and delivery of operational, provisioning and engineering project work across the local team, whilst coordinating with global stakeholders
- Contribute to establishing methods and metrics for tracking network and team performance to drive decisions regarding expansion
- Work with the other groups inside the greater Network team to capture requirements on network expansion and product roadmaps to ensure appropriate delivery of capacity, facilities and projects in support of broader SIE and PlayStation goals.
- Use and improve upon formal project management techniques including Agile methodologies.
- Develop tools and processes to improve engineering efficiency and to meet project goals
- Problem solving within a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment, with the ability to bring order to ambiguous situations
- Own communication plans for communicating status, challenges, and risks to stakeholders effectively and proactively
Requirements:
- Minimum of 4 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or equivalent experience as a Project Manager with 4+ years of experience in the telecommunications, networking, content provider or streaming industry
- Exhibits strong project management skills, tracking and reporting on projects with defined timelines and expected results, including demonstrable record of resolving delays and complex project dependency issues (time, resources, budgets)
- Strong presentation skills, expectation management and facilitation skills across all levels of internal and external partners.
- Proficiency with tools in agile development (Jira, Confluence, Trello, etc.) and modern collaboration tools (GSuite, Slack, Office365, etc).
Desired Skills and Knowledge:
- Familiarity with telecommunications and ISP service delivery
- Engineering education or background
- Familiarity with digital media software and networking technologies, especially those related to Sony’s products, services, and devices.
