Survios currently has an opening for a talented Technical Level Designer to join our amazing design team!
This position will be responsible for providing technical support for all aspects of design as needed, which includes scripting engaging scenarios and systems for first-person games. As a Technical Level Designer for Survios, you will work with other designers and engineers to design, implement, and maintain moment-to-moment gameplay experiences within the levels.
Applicants should be enthusiastic about the opportunity to collaborate with developers across disciplines, and to seek out opportunities to dive in, solve problems, and make improvements wherever necessary. The ideal candidate has experience working with a cross disciplinary team on a large codebase. Candidates are expected to be self-starting and proactive in identifying risks and determining solutions. They should also have a passion for adding the extra polish that sets our games apart.
Responsibilities:
- Build and script high-quality player experiences.
- Understand how to reuse technical solutions to be efficient.
- Interpret and translate design document intentions into functioning, tangible experiences for the player using technical solutions.
- Help the knowledge bridge between Game Design and Programming.
- Work within project constraints to develop scripting-oriented solutions for game mechanics and experiences.
- Work closely with Design and Programming teams to develop new technology systems based on project needs and capabilities.
- Coordinate with Art, FX, Audio, Narrative and other teams to integrate content into scripted level experiences.
- Work with other Level Designers to help build and polish new gameplay and combat. sequences, actor creation, level scripting, checkpoint management, and AI scripting.
- Work with existing systems to ensure level data and performance optimization.
- Embrace a growth mindset, provide constructive insight and feedback to the game team and the company as a whole.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional experience as a Technical Designer.
- 2+ years of Level Design experience in Unreal Engine.
- Working knowledge of Blueprints and features including interfaces, casting validation, enabling/disabling classes, spawning classes, FX and sequencer.
- Debugging and basic coding in C++ to review, modify or create native classes.
- Use and knowledge of tools, such as Animation Blueprint, Behavior Tree, Sequencer, UMG, Gameplay Ability System, or level streaming.
- Strong familiarity with scripting languages such as Blueprints, C#, Lua, or Javascript.
- Solid programming/scripting methodology.
- Good problem solving ability with a focus on rapid iteration to achieve balance, pacing, and fun.
- Understanding of first-person combat and exploration game design.
- Strong Verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive and collaborative attitude working with cross-functional teams.
- A high standard of quality for your own work as well as reviewing the work of peers.
- Embrace a growth mindset, provide constructive insight and feedback to the game team and the company as a whole.
Pluses:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Powerpoint or other presentation software.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Math or a related field.
- Experience using Agile methodology and tools such as JIRA and Perforce.

Base salary range between $100,000 USD - $125,000 USD ( Base salary range for applicants located within the United States )
