We are looking for a Technical Lead to work on the future of the Need for Speed franchise. We offer hybrid-working and you can work at our Guildford, Southam or Cheshire-based studios. You will report to the Core Technologies Technical Director and operate across all disciplines and teams to champion technical excellence across Criterions products. This will include responsibilities for promoting the processes and technologies to ensure any software release will hit stability, memory and performance targets, in addition to encouraging the culture needed to allow the development team to make an impact every day.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate with leadership to drive processes and best practices for the development team
- Provide technical guidance to the Engineering Leads to improve and iterate the process of resolving stability / memory / performance issues
- You will work across departments with Technical Artists, Designers and Content Creators to ensure content remains at the highest quality whilst remaining within budgets
- Mentor and develop the skills and careers of your direct reports, and the wider engineering team
- Build the partnership with QV around the defect creation process to improve the ability to understand issues as they arise
- Work with the release team on discussions about quality of life or hotfix releases
- Write, support and review technical designs to ensure we can achieve our project goals
- Identify risks and issues early and address them before they become larger problems
Qualifications
- 7+ years software engineering experience working on shipped titles
- Experienced in managing and developing technical teams
- C++ game engine knowledge
- Experience working with large code bases
- Expertise with memory, multithreading, and performance optimisation
