Job Description:

Our team delivers engaging, innovative, and exciting gameplay to thousands of developers and millions of players via our Mobile SDK. We believe our platform is the future of competitive gaming, and we do everything in our power to make that future a reality.

We spend most of our time working in a React Native tech stack, but as an SDK, we also dive deep into native iOS and Android development. As the Lead SDK Engineer for our Achievements team, not only will you work with all of the systems that power player achievement and growth on the Skillz platform, but you will also own and lead the technical direction for our Mobile SDK as a whole.

For player achievements, you’ll own front-end features such as Leagues, Player Levels, Trophies, and more. As the lead, you’ll also own our most powerful native technologies, including video streaming, real-time chat, over-the-air deployments, our CI/CD platform, and modularizing our codebases to share across a wide variety of products at Skillz.

Producing a cross-platform SDK is a hard thing to do. Our team is excited by these challenges and takes them head-on. We take pride in being able to plan, estimate, and deliver complex tasks on time and consider our work a reflection of ourselves.

• You will report directly to the Director of Engineering and lead a team of engineers, driving career growth, mentorship, onboarding, and hiring.
• Become an expert and mentor in our fully cross-platform iOS/Android development environment.
• Collaborate with teammates who care about building phenomenal products as much as you do.
• Take responsibility for estimating, planning, implementing, and deploying large features and releases, with the help of your teammates.
• Build exciting new features for our world-class multiplayer platform, enabling competitions, tournaments, and social features for players, spectators, and streamers around the world.
• Work with a variety of powerful front-end technologies and languages on multiple mobile platforms, including video streaming, player chat, React Native, and real-time gameplay.
• Deploy continuously integrated over-the-air updates containing all the amazing work you’ve built to thousands of games and millions of players, instantly.
• Cultivate our diverse player base, currently over 18 million players, more than half of whom are women.
• Play an integral role in building the future of Mobile eSports!

Requirements:

• 8+ years of mobile development experience in iOS or Android, using Java, Swift, Kotlin, or Objective-C.
• 10+ years of experience in a Software Engineering career, with 4+ years of experience leading 6+ person teams.
• 4+ years of experience in the React Native Mobile development environment, or equivalent, via cross-platform development in either web or mobile technologies.
• Experience planning, implementing, and deploying large team projects in a fast-paced environment, on time, within estimates, while delivering measurable business impact.
• Familiarity with frameworks, SDKs, or game development platforms such as Unity is a plus but not required.
• BS in Computer Science or a technical field of study, or equivalent industry experience.
• Gamer or experience in the Games Industry.
• Able to work in-office 5 days a week in Las Vegas (relocation available).
