Technical Game Designer Intern
Bend, OR
If selected, you will contribute to the design and development of AAA products. Utilizing a combination of creative and technical design skills, you will help architect flexible and robust gameplay systems that allow designers to rapidly iterate and tune AAA open world gameplay.
This is a phenomenal opportunity to make an impact on a small design team for a large-scale open world game from one of the world’s most prominent publishers.
Responsibilities:
- You will work with the Lead Designer to design and implement characters and enemy AI from concept to completion (includes the creation of character design proposals, and implementation of character animations, props, visuals and sound effects)
- You will work directly with the programming team to define tools and processes to develop the ranged combat system and AI behaviors
- You will tune and balance weapons, AI, and combat encounters that match the defined vision
- You will translate gameplay high level ideas into functional gameplay content with intuitive and easy to use tuning and iteration hooks
- You will build tools and production processes that help craft AAA, next-gen open world gameplay
- You will discover, define and share information, as well as best practices across the team
Qualifications:
- Experience and a real passion for open world games
- Passionate about game development
- Possess strong C++ programming skills
- Experience with and a deep understanding of Unreal 4 Blueprints
- Proven experience of crafting satisfying, impactful shooter experiences
- Have a critical eye for gameplay quality and fun
- A good work ethic
