Technical Director - New Project
We are Media Molecule, a multi award-winning game developer and a proud member of the PlayStation Studios family. We have a history of creating revolutionary games such as LittleBigPlanet, Tearaway and most recently the Technical Achievement BAFTA Award winning Dreams. Location: Our studio in Guildford or Hybrid.
Position type: Full-time (UK hours).
Role: As a technical director in our pioneering studio, you will use a blend of engineering, management, and creative experience to define, guide, and deliver client-side technologies for a brand-new game.
You will help to set the standard for technical work across the project, whilst taking responsibility for representing trade-offs, opportunities, and risks to key stakeholders. - You will report to the studio technical director and will be accountable for liaising with cross functional stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks for the project and to ensure that our plans are well aligned to our studio and technical strategies.
- You will work alongside production, discipline leads, and directors to support the studio in delivering against our product goals. You will be responsible for communicating these goals and ensuring that teams are aligned and working towards a clear vision.
- You will help elevate our engineering leads through coaching and mentorship while creating a team culture where all team members have an inclusive environment in which to grow.
- You will help to ensure that there is a focus on productive live service methodologies and pragmatic programming practices within the studio.
Requirements:
- You have experience leading multiple technical teams simultaneously.
- You have a deep knowledge of game development, preferably with a focus on gameplay, game systems, and UI/UX.
- You have excellent communication skills and are proactive in keeping your teams and stakeholders informed.
- You have the ability to influence a positive outcome when liaising with leadership and the wider studio.
- You demonstrate excellent management skills and can capably navigate difficult conversations.
- You are highly organised, detail oriented, and can juggle multiple priorities and deliverables.
- You show good judgement when proposing and reaching conclusions; you consistently offer positive and constructive feedback.
- You have a proven ability to coordinate and deliver projects with multiple stakeholders and craft specialisms at various levels of an organisation.
- You have a proven track record of successfully managing, motivating, and inspiring engineering teams.
- You have an in-depth and thorough knowledge of current technologies applicable to game development.
In return we offer the opportunity to be part of a talented, diverse and social team, with a tip top benefits package including (but not limited to);
