Technical Director- Animation- Flexible/ Hybrid

Are you an experienced technical leader looking for your next opportunity as a Technical Director? Are you an expert in Programming Animation Systems?
We are looking for someone like you to become our all-new Technical Director for Animation here at Rebellion.
As part of Rebellion’s in house Tech Team, The Technical Director- Animation is a new role dedicated leading the team in creating and perfecting the animation engine to enhance the overall quality of the animation in our projects.
You will play a key role defining and delivering the technology strategy with the focus on creativity to push the boundaries to deliver world class Animation systems in our in-house Engine. You will have autonomy to decide the direction of the engine in your area as we enhance and expand the features to continue to deliver AAA Experiences to our players.
You will be both a role model and Technical Leader, working with a talented and passionate team to maintain morale and create an atmosphere of creativity and enthusiasm within the team, as well as making decisions on the Technical Direction of the Animation Systems and Features across all our projects.
What you’ll be doing
- Take a lead role in planning and prioritising work on current and future Animation systems in our internal engine.
- Lead a team of talented Animation Programmers using best practice people management techniques, maintaining morale and create an atmosphere of creativity and enthusiasm.
- Proactively monitor, find and address all types of performance issues using IDE Performance Tools.
- Set out roadmaps/ direction for the team to develop features within our animation systems, both on content creation tools as well as runtime systems
- Perform code reviews in different areas, spotting bugs, suggesting improvements, and providing constructive feedback
- Build effective working relationships with all stakeholders to analyse and understand requirements, prioritise backlogs and plan future work
- Liaising with game teams and other Technical Directors regarding feature requests and deliveries
Requirements
- Advanced understanding of C++ and software engineering principles.
- Previous experience Leading a high performing programming team.
- A solid coding background with a preference to having detailed knowledge of internal workings of animation systems
- Expert knowledge of potential pitfalls across a range of platforms and ability to use debugging tools to solve any potential issues.
