The Audio team at Build a Rocket Boy is growing! We are looking for a passionate and hardworking individual to come onboard and join the team.
As a Technical Audio Designer at Build a Rocket Boy, you would be expected to handle a multitude of responsibilities and be proficient in a vast array of both creative and technical skills.
Your primary focus is to support the Audio Department in attaining its goals; achieved by working closely with the Lead Audio Designer and Audio Director to establish the audio requirements for the project as well as assisting with production scope, planning, and delegation of work.

Responsibilities:
- Working with Leads and Director in production planning and defining tone/style of audio direction.
- Own the development of complex, keystone audio systems to an industry-leading quality.
- Support Audio with technical knowledge and work with Code to craft solutions to challenging audio needs.
- Work with external development teams, scheduling, and approving submissions.
- Work closely with system stakeholders, adapt audio work accordingly with internal goals across departments.
- Help manage the audio middleware and the design teams’ pipeline with Wwise and UE5.
- Assist in maintaining studio equipment and libraries.
- Work closely with other departments to help with progression of tasks and bugs.
- Support multiple teams and assist with any technical audio issues.
- Share insight and experience of technical knowledge to Audio designers when assisting with any technical issues.
Requirements:
- Ability to work on-site in Edinburgh, Scotland.
- Expert proficiency with Wwise.
- Strong working knowledge of Unreal Engine and audio integration within the engine via middleware.
- Familiarity with cinematic audio.
- Ability to learn new systems and work within engine limitations is essential.
- A positive, collaborative, and communicative working attitude.
- Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High attention to detail when it comes to looking into audio design plans and issues.
- A good work ethic, and willingness to get involved within the Audio team.
- Follow a schedule and submit audio files on or before required deadlines.
Bonus Skills
- A Bachelor’s degree in audio-related subject.
- Used multiple gaming platforms.
- Experience with multiplayer games.
- Strong writing skills when it comes to creating documentation for audio systems and tools.
