Technical Audio Designer - Studio Elevation (Remote within UK)

Elevation is re-establishing the boundaries of VR. We’re looking for a talented Technical Audio Designer to join us on a 12-month fixed term contract to help us explore, create, and deliver world leading innovation in software and VR hardware. Become one of the founding members of Elevation, pathfinding a remote first studio, crafting a new generation of VR development and bringing core VR games to fruition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement game audio using Audiokinetic's Wwise and Unreal 5
- Manage Wwise project organization, structures, plugins, configuration and data within performance budgets.
- Build and maintain interactive audio playback systems, triggers and controlling logic based on creative vision and gameplay needs.
- Ensure audio systems, data and setup and data are documented, and audio workload is consistently performant for a stable VR framerate.
- Collaborate with other disciplines (art, design, code and QA) to ensure audio is incorporated into all aspects of gameplay and enhances game experience.
- Support and plan the audio vision of the game in collaboration with other creative disciplines and project leadership.
- Be a positive behavioural and mental role model for the team and studio.
Requirements
Essential capabilities:
- High-quality skills in sound design and mixing within games
- Able to work to differing feature sets and requirements between different consoles and formats.
- Skilled with Audiokinetic's Wwise (Wwise 201 Certification or equivalent experience)
- Experience with Wwise and Unreal Integration
- Some Blueprint scripting experience
- Experience implementing audio in Unreal
- Understanding of the technical audio constraints for the game development across different platforms
- Experience using version control software: P4V, SVN, SourceTree etc.
Desired experience:
- 3 years game development experience and/or at least one product published within the Console, PC, VR or Mobile space.
- Previous spatial audio real-time or video work
- Real-time engine experience with Unreal (other engine knowledge a plus).
- Ability to create and/or implement blueprints to a safe and optimized standard.
- Working knowledge of FMod and WWise middleware as well as popular DAWs (Reaper preferred).
- Experience working with non-interactive media such as trailers or other promotional video work.
- Can Demonstrate experience in interactive audio system design and maintenance (games, installations, etc.)
- A working knowledge of C++ is an advantage.
