Job Description
At Ubisoft Stockholm we’re exploring what’s possible with Scalar (our new cloud technology), reclaiming our playful curiosity, and building the future of games.
We’re looking for a Technical Sound Designer to join our studio for an ambitious unannounced game here in Stockholm Sweden.
As part of the Audio Team, and the technical design expert of your discipline, you will be responsible both for defining and managing best practice audio workflows and tools, as well as being the technical driver in prototyping and defining audio and music system setups according to the creative vision.
You’ll play a significant role in the development of our ultra-interactive and beautiful new world on a brand New Game IP.
Games using our Ubisoft Scalar tech can rely on a virtually unlimited amount of computing power and enable you to focus on creativity and design for never-before-seen player experiences.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Be responsible for the data gathering and scripting of audio. This also means keeping music and sound design aware of the possibilities created for it – as well as helping create new possibilities based on emerging needs.
- Drive the design and function of the sound effect/mix systems and tools and pipelines, making sure the output is immersive, well balanced and a snug fit to the mechanics of the game.
- Work along-side Audio Director, Music Director, Sound Designer and Audio programmer to define and develop the audio and music system framework, based on creative vision and game-play needs.
- Proof systemic and procedural design visions using node based visual scripting to prototype new and core system functionality.
- Implement complex systemic audio playback using node based visual scripting.
- Work together with the audio team to define music system setup and structural needs from a design workflow and functionality perspective.
- Be a key stakeholder in identifying and managing data mining needs from all game areas needed to secure the audio and music vision.
- Define and apply best practices of technical audio and music systems, tools and debugging functionality.
- Setup and manage Wwise project organization, structures, gameplay parameter setups and optimizations.
Qualifications
We would love it if you…
- Are a seasoned audio developer/scripter in the open world paradigm of audio.
- Have extensive experience in defining and building systemic game logic structures.
- Are an expert in designing and managing procedurally generated audio and music systems
- Proficiently can use node based visual scripting languages
- Have experience within adaptive music systems and with the ability to think beyond established implementations
- Are a Wwise power user
- See yourself as a problem-solver who understands the importance of clear communication.
- Are comfortable expressing yourself in English and look forward to collaborating in an international and creative environment.
