(Senior) Technical Artist

Your mission
We are Vertigo Games, the largest VR developer in the world and part of the Embracer Group, the largest group of developers in the world. As our Rotterdam Studio kicks off development on our new AAA VR projects, we are looking to recruit an expressive and experienced technical artist who can aid us in our mission!
As a technical artist within Vertigo Games Rotterdam you’re responsible for creating and realizing opportunities to increase the visual appeal and performance of the graphics. Working in tandem with the art and tech leads, you will also focus on researching and implementing new tools and techniques to drive up the quality of the content and the happiness of your colleagues using the tool chain.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will act as a bridge between artists & programmers to ensure art assets can be easily integrated into our games without sacrificing either the overall artistic vision nor, exceed the technical demands from working across multiple platforms.
- You will find solutions and specify tools for the further development of our Art pipelines and process working with our in-house tool teams.
- You enjoy keeping up to date with changes in technology, as well as being curious about new techniques. You are not afraid to evaluate what already exists and be curious about how vertigo can improve our players experience.
Your profile
- A solid understanding of rendering theory from cutting edge console to mobile
- Strong technical insight; from content creation to getting it to run in a game
- An expert in optimization for both high end and mobile, from profiling to implementation
- An affinity with workflow optimization and knowledge of Python and C# to write scripts and tools that make life easier
- You can iterate upon your designs autonomously or with limited support
- You are an effective communicator with management and the team
- Understanding of HLSL shader language
- You are organized and forward thinking
- You’re a proven innovator
- You are eager to work on-site
Bonus points for
- Affinity and experience with VR games
- Experienced with tracking software (Jira)
- Experience with VFX e.g. Unity particle systems
- Substance Painter and/or Designer experience
- Modeling and texturing abilities
- Experience with Houdini
