Technical Artist

As a Technical Artist you’ll be a key contributor to the technical strategy and creative vision for Worldwide Studios Creative. This role bridges the space between art and programming so we’re looking for someone who's comfortable with both web development and 3D work. If you’re curious, ready to learn new skillsets and workflows, have excellent communication skills, strong analytical skills, and have an eye for aesthetics we want to talk to you! The focus of this position is to collaborate with our creative teams developing and creating unique brand experiences, while maintaining flexibility and delivering exceptional projects on deadline.
Worldwide Studios Creative is an internal creative group within Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Part of the larger Product Development Services Group (PDSG), we partner with our worldwide network of game teams and studios to support, design, transform and deliver innovative brands and experiences to the epic portfolio of PlayStation IP and hardware. This includes everything from cinematics, UI/UX and branding design to trailers, TV spots, key-art and everything in-between.
Operating out of locations in San Diego, Santa Monica and San Francisco, we comprise disciplines of Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, Video and Interactive/Digital. Think of us as an internal creative agency for Sony PlayStation.
Responsibilities:
- Designing, implementing and maintaining art production paths using both off-the-shelf and proprietary software
- Researching and developing new tools, processes, and technologies for production of real-time game artwork
- Troubleshoot problems in pipeline and for individuals on as-needed basis
- Testing and evaluating new internal and off the shelf software tools and technologies for real-time artwork development
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic Art, a related field, or equivalent experience
- Software experience preferred: Maya or Cinema 4D + Photoshop (After effects, Sublime a bonus)
- One year in computer generated art, preferably in game development
- Knowledge of graphic design, video production and VFX, web design
- Experience with JavaScript, HTML, XML (C#, C++ a bonus)
