We are looking for amazing people to join our Tantalus Adelaide studio! With several AAA titles in the pipeline, we're looking for Technical Artists to join our team!

Overview

We are seeking Technical Artists of all experience levels - from juniors to seasoned professionals.

As a Technical Artist, your role is to provide support to content production teams by building and delivering key tools, pipelines and workflows to enable effective creation and implementation of visual content.

Lean into your strengths and build new knowledge and abilities in fields including VFX, lighting, shaders, particle systems, pipelines, animation systems, environmental tech and tools development. Come and help us make our games perform and play beautifully.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Working closely with producers, game designers, programmers and artists to implement world-class technical art in your fields of expertise to a schedule
• Understanding and solving a variety of tech art related problems
• Staying up-to-date with new technologies and architectures
• Following Tantalus' standards and best practices
• Assisting and mentoring other Technical Artists in your areas of expertise

Requirements

• Approx. 5+ years of Feature Film, Television or Games Industry experience (for senior levels)
• Strong time management and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail, able to multi-task and adapt to change
• Artistic eye and solid understanding of art or animation pipelines
• Proficiency in scripting and coding in one or more of the following - Python, C#, C++, HLSL, MEL, MaxScript
• Knowledge of industry DCC packages - Maya, 3DS Max, Photoshop
• Current development experience with Unity, UE4 or UE5
• Skills and interest in one or more areas - Shader development, Character rigging, Pipeline and tool development, Procedural asset generation, VFX / Particles, Lighting, Real-time physics simulations, Real-time rendering and post-effects, Asset optimisation and performance profiling
• A passion for games, an interest and awareness in the latest trends, tools, technology and approaches in creating content
• Experience in AAA game development
• Experience in art content creation
• Familiarity with Maya API
• Experience with Houdini and Substance Designer
• Experience with console development – Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and XBox
• Traditional art / drawing / painting / photography skills
