We are looking for an experienced Technical Artist to help drive the development of tools and pipelines for an ambitious new AAA IP project. You will play a key role in building and extending a suite of tools to support a large team of content creators, utilizing a custom engine, and working primarily with Maya API, Python, and Qt. Your focus will be on creating scalable solutions that integrate seamlessly within our pipeline, ensuring they are adaptable to various environments and workflows.
A snapshot of your role:
- Develop and maintain a suite of scalable tools for content creators using Maya API, Python, and Qt (or PyQt), ensuring seamless workflows across diverse teams.
- Refactor and extend existing pipelines, ensuring they are flexible, scalable, and functional in multiple environments beyond specific internal infrastructures.
- Work closely with artists, designers, and engineers to ensure tools meet the needs of the team, streamlining content creation across character, environment, and animation workflows.
- Act as a technical problem-solver, providing support to the team and troubleshooting pipeline and tool issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with external partners to ensure tools and pipelines meet the quality standards and expectations.
- Contribute to the development backlog, ensuring tools are optimized, user-friendly, and capable of working within custom engine environments.
- Stay adaptable and work autonomously within a new team, focusing on innovative solutions while maintaining open communication and collaboration.
Sound like you? This is what we're looking for:
- 5+ years of experience in a Technical Artist role, with a strong emphasis on tools and pipeline development.
- Extensive experience with Maya API and Python; familiarity with Qt or PyQt is required.
- Proven track record of building scalable tools and pipelines for content creators, supporting teams of varying sizes.
- Ability to refactor pipelines to operate in multiple environments, free from specific dependencies.
- A background in technical art is preferred, but candidates with a strong developer background will also be considered.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a larger team effort.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience with C++
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine
- General knowledge of procedural content generation techniques

The base salary range is $87,000 - $120,000. The stated pay scale reflects the range that SkyBox Labs reasonably expects to pay for this position. Your base salary will be determined by various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, skills, and experience.
