Do you want to collaborate with world class artists, engineers, designers, and technical artists to help solve some of our most technically complex problems? Do you want to help support the creation of the next great AAA Blizzard project?
Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented, motivated, associate character technical artist who has a passion for character rigging. You should have a strong grasp of rigging and skinning techniques, as well as being comfortable simulating cloth in Maya. You’ll need strong problem-solving skills to constantly support your work and that of other artists. Your work will be aligned to the needs of a production pipeline and teams we support. You will work collaboratively with other departments including modeling, game design, animation, concept, and VFX.
COVID-19 Hiring Update: We’ve transitioned to a work-from-home model and we’re continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position. We understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.
What you will doing
- You’ll work with the art department to make sure character models are created properly and are ready to be rigged.
- You’ll work with the animation dept to create easy to use rigs that can support the creation of amazing, keyframed animated performances.
- When needed, you’ll create simulations for cloth and hair across a diverse set of characters and monsters.
- You’ll be expected to help streamline the content creation pipeline to help yourself and other artists work more efficiently.
- You’ll work hand in hand with other technical artists across multiple disciplines
Requirements
- Minimum experience 1-3 years’ experience rigging/skinning in Maya
- Detailed working knowledge of Maya
- Detailed working knowledge of character kinematics, deformations, and topology
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
Pluses
- Experience in Python, or other scripting languages
- Familiarity with character pipelines, such as modeling, rigging and animation
- Experience using game engines
- Familiar with Blizzard games and properties
- An avid gamer with a love for Blizzard franchises
