Technical Artist, PRELOADED (UK, Remote)

PRELOADED is seeking a highly creative and experienced Technical Artist with a great track record for creating compelling playful and immersive experiences for a wide range of audiences.
This role is a rare opportunity to be at the heart of development on a groundbreaking project with cutting edge technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create shaders in line with art direction
- Develop VFX using particle systems, VFX graph, Niagra.
- Provide tools that will be used by artists to improve and assist their work in production.
- Establishing art production pipelines and workflows
- Provide hands-on support for Artist and Programmers regarding asset performance and validation.
- Use best practices and methods for improving graphic workload.
- Performance considerations and optimisation for target platforms.
THE SKILLSET
- 3+ Years of experience minimum
- Broad understanding of core tools and workflows within the games industry.
- Deep understanding of graphic rendering pipelines
- Knowledge of blueprints.
- Creating VFX using Particle Systems, VFX Graph or Niagra.
- Working knowledge of game engines (Unreal / Unity)
- Proficient with a programming language (C++ or C#, Python, Mel etc)
- Ability to write shaders in CG/HLSL as well as node based editors.
- Curiosity to experiment and learn current next-gen technologies
- Ability to discover creative solutions to challenges.
- Organised, motivated and hands-on.
“NICE TO HAVE”
- You have an understanding of 3D software packages.
- You have a passion for AR, Mixed-Realities and new technologies.
This role will involve collaboration with a team of hybrid, and fully remote individuals, so flexibility for travel to our London studio for a minimum of 2 days per week will be highly desirable.
WITHIN 1 MONTH, YOU’ll HAVE
- Completed onboarding which is designed to get you up to speed on our business, vision and team - understand how your role fits into the broader company.
- Met the art team and understood skills and capabilities.
- Ramped up on PRELOADED’s art pipelines and expected responsibilities.
- Visited the studio, met the rest of the team and shortlisted your favourite game on the arcade machine.
- Started your first project, met the project team and got up to speed on the creative vision.
- Take the project reins, meet the client and establish your artistic overship of the project.
WITHIN 3 MONTHS, YOU’ll HAVE
- Got stuck into your first project
- Been involved in concept definition flexing your creative and technical muscle to solve technical hurdles alongside your team.
- Worked alongside the engineering and technical art team to outline needs for the project art pipeline.
- Experimented with a new piece of software or a new stylistic approach.
- Got hands on in engine using a broad variety of tools.
WITHIN 6 MONTHS, YOU’ll HAVE
- Created a series of prototypes to explore concepts.
- Supported artists with guidance on created tooling.
- Optimised the technical performance output from the team by providing clear guidelines
WITHIN 12 MONTHS, YOU’LL HAVE
- Celebrated the launch of your first project.
- Supported growth of new software and processed
- Picked up a few awards
