Technical Artist - Developer Relations (Contract)

A Technical Artist - Developer Relations contractor works hand in hand with customers using Unreal Engine for projects in Feature/TV Animation. In this role you will work on a diverse range of different projects, reflecting the breadth of usage for the engine. This role involves everything from direct customer assistance to building samples and providing topical training. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about problem solving and helping others, and has previous experience using Unreal Engine, ideally in Feature/TV Animation or VFX productions.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with customers to provide direct project support, demonstrate Unreal Engine best practices, troubleshoot issues and identify innovative solutions
- Understand production challenges, using and sharing techniques to overcome those challenges
- Provide creative solutions, training and thought leadership to enable customers to achieve their goals
- Identify bottlenecks and limitations in production pipelines, tools and development
- Document recommendations clearly and succinctly to help customers resolve issues
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to product management about common customer needs
Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of linear content creation workflows in Feature/TV Animation or VFX
- Solid understanding of one or more components of Unreal Engine such as Material Editor and Shaders, Animation, Layout, Sequencer, Lighting etc.
- Experience in at least one DCC tool (Maya, 3ds Max, Houdini, ZBrush, etc)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a variety of customers
- Knowledge of game engines
- Passion for helping others
- Willing to travel up to 15% of the time, when travel resumes
