BioWare is searching for a Technical Artist Intern for the Anthem team who is excited to further their development in a production setting. The Technical Artist is an individual contributor on the art team who supports the technical delivery of art across a distributed production environment.
What a Technical Artist does at EA/BioWare:
Technical Artists are the bridge between art and programming departments, and have the capability to understand the nuances of art creation and technical code. You show technical proficiency in basic 3D concepts and have experience in both art and programming. This role in the art department is essential to the success of our titles.

Portfolio/Presentation Requirements:
It is required that you submit a portfolio/presentation of your work with your application. You may do so by providing a link to an online presentation, or attaching documents to your resume. All presentations must contain a detailed breakdown of the work. It must be very clear what you, the applicant, manage.
Please apply with as many examples of the following:
- Tools and pipeline work. Provide scripts and/or code samples.
- For example: exhibit how you took a problem, went about solving it, and show the result as part of a video capture or a series of screenshots. Include any relevant code.
- Examples of 3D graphics in areas such as modeling, animation, lighting, visual effects, and shading.
- Any art (traditional or digital media) that you have personally created.

Requirements:
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D art packages (Maya and Photoshop desired) and experience in scripting and programming (Python and C# desired).
- Understand (and technical proficiency in) 3D concepts such as modeling, texturing, rendering, shading, lighting, rigging, skinning, dynamics, particle systems, and image manipulation techniques.
- Basic familiarity with game engine workflows (i.e. Unity, Unreal), asset pipelines, and revision control systems.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- We are only considering students who will be enrolled in a bachelors or masters program in the summer of 2020, slated to graduate in fall of 2020 or spring of 2021.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Tech Art team and with Tech Art Director to support game and studio vision, provide/receive feedback, and innovate, with the goal of creating performant assets of high visual quality and technologies that move BioWare into the future.
- Collaborate with content creators using a service-minded attitude, aiming to understand requirements and offer support.
- Design, implement, and maintain art creation pipelines/workflows that meet artist needs and increase productivity for content creators.
- Commit to learning and familiarizing oneself with different technologies, technical concepts, ideas, and problems.
