We’re looking for a world-class Technical Art Director who will be responsible for defining and developing the technology behind the incredible visuals in our first game, Palia. We’re looking for someone on the cutting edge of industry techniques and innovations with a passion for solving unique problems in a fast-moving atmosphere.
You’ll manage and help build a team of talented technical artists, partnering with our Art Director to help the team further the artistic vision while taking into account the player experience at every turn.
Expectations and Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of the art creation tool chain and the art content production pipelines as they stand and, in partnership with your team, define a vision of where they need to be in the coming years
- Take responsibility for art and content production pipelines and processes
- Manage relationships across disciplines and teams to achieve product goals
- Guide your team in balancing quality and performance needs across all platforms
- Identify, plan for, and solve technical problems across the development timeline
- Recruit and manage a talented team of technical and VFX artists
- Represent the tech art team at the team leadership level
What We’re Looking For:
- Degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience
- Deep subject matter expertise with the Unreal Engine
- Minimum of 8 years of industry experience in computer generated art
- Shipped multiple AAA titles in this or a related role
- Demonstrable expertise in technical and artistic direction
- Cutting edge knowledge of technical art trends and techniques
- Able to write clean and extensible code in 2 or more languages
- Such as Python and C++ (Preferred)
- Motivated by and a strong advocate for a collaborative work environment
- At least 3 years of people management experience
- Great communicator
Nice to Have:
- Experience creating Stylized games
- Passionate about Community Simulation games
Salary Information:
The Los Angeles base salary range for this full-time position is$188,000 - $238,000 for a Technical Art Director. Base salary will be determined by role, level, and location. The range listed for each job is the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the positions across S6-approved states. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors. Please discuss your specific salary expectations for your preferred location during our interview process.
Compensation details reflect only the base salary, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits such as 401k matching.

- Choice of Remote (in approved states) or Hybrid office options in Los Angeles, CA, or Orange County, CA (office location pending) unless noted above
- Aligned to core Pacific Coast hours (10:00am - 4:00pm PT)
