As the Advanced Visualization Technical Art Director, you are part of a team focused on delivering amazing, best-in-class visual experiences. You will be the bridge between art and programming departments and have the capability to understand the nuances of art creation and technical code. You are an individual contributor supporting animation pipelines for all titles across Tiburon.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the Studio Principal Art Director, Technical Leadership, and Partner Teams (Create, SEED, Frostbite) to lead quality, efficiency, and new ideas in the rigging/animation domain.
- In collaboration with the Studio Principal Art Director and Character Director, the focus of work will be high impact and strategic projects to guide the animation/rigging domain forward.
- Work with animators, automation, and other TAs to create tools and improve pipelines.
- In partnership with the Character Director and game teams, you will analyze existing visuals, tools, and workflows across multiple projects to propose improvements.
- Develop automated solutions to help process large amounts of animation data.
- Work with gameplay, cinematic, and facial animation teams to support all efforts.
- Support rigging and animation pipelines, including ongoing investigation to improve facial rig and animation solving solutions.
- Partner with animation programmers to develop and improve runtime solutions.
- Solve technical problems throughout all phases of production.
- Collaborate with the Advance Visualization Character Director to create and support 3- year roadmap for quality and progress in the animation domain.
- Stay current within the industry and the visual arts to ensure studio is pioneering in the animation domain and using the industry-leading and creative processes.
Qualifications:
Incorporating both artistic and technical skills, you will have a background demonstrating an ability to guide quality and progress through personal and collaborative efforts.
- 7+ years of experience in a game production environment.
- Knowledge of 2D and 3D art packages (Maya and Photoshop desired, Houdini ) and experience in scripting and programming (Python and C# desired).
- Experience with (and technical proficiency in) fundamental 3D concepts such as modeling, texturing, rendering, shading, lighting, rigging, skinning, animation, particle systems, and image manipulation techniques.
- Expert level understanding of game engine workflows, asset requirements, performance budgets and profiling, build systems, asset conditioning/export pipelines, and revision control systems.
- Experience creating animation tools.
- Collaborate across teams and studios and communicate messaging and vision.
