The Technical Architect (Production) collaborates with Game Development Teams in the design, coaching and implementation of offline game engineering and infrastructure solutions. Working towards the global standards and practices for offline game development and implementation and oversees all projects within the Production domains.
The Technical Architect (Production) is responsible to capture our internal and external codev client requirements and translate unevolved concepts and ideas into fully designed tangible solutions.
Familiar with industry standards and the ever-evolving technical landscape for Game Development the Production Architect works with internal stakeholders to continually optimize existing processes, pipelines and technological consumption. This is accomplished through a combination of innovative uses of technology solutions and educating internal clients and colleagues with new ways of meeting challenges in an ever changing industry.
The design process stretches from the initial ideation driven by production staff all the way to the transition to the operations teams while ensuring that these solutions integrate without friction into existing environments and processes.
The Technical Architect (Production) is expected to lead by example and assert when opportunities to deliver a better experience, save expense or optimize workflow is achievable. He acts as a technical coach and mentor to the OPS Teams and an evangelist for best practices in achieving offline visions from production teams.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities and routine tasks of the Technical Architect (Production) are to:
- Identify, formulate and propose solutions for the global standardization and optimization of offline game development implementation within the company.
- Define the technological vision and lead the design of new applications or services when current options do not meet project needs;
- Determine any necessary applications or services enhancements to meet project needs and ensure the feasibility of these upgrades;
- Analyze and resolve architectural and design issues pertaining to the engine, applications and/or pipeline;
- Communicate the technical constraints of the applications and services to team members to inform them on production options and related best practices;
- Act as a senior technical advisor by, amongst other things, organizing presentations of solutions and initiatives as well as evolving technical direction within the industry;
- Recommend staff training and development programs for upcoming new technologies;
- Evaluate existing engines and tools at Ubisoft (or outside Ubisoft) to determine their strengths and weaknesses and recommend those that best meet project objectives and expectations;
- Anticipate technological advances, understand the issues brought about by new industry trends and implement solutions that leverage or support these changes and possibilities;
- Draft documents on the engine and tools for later use or reference;
- Carry out all other related tasks.
Qualifications
Training
- A baccalaureate Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
Relevant Experience
- 10+ years of experience in the game industry with notable titles shipped as a technical contributor.
