At Mainframe we are building a living world that people will call their home for years and hopefully decades. This world lives in the cloud and will through the years of its operations, become the setting for complex social drama that involves potentially millions of people around the clock and around the world.
Your mission and responsibilities:
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to be an essential part of the game development team at Mainframe, developing a yet to be announced cloud native MMO game.
As a Technical Animator you will prototype and implement new gameplay features together with gameplay teams. You will be creating first pass animations and implementing and improving animation systems to achieve responsive and high quality gameplay while working together with character and animation teams to reach the visual targets using motion capture and procedural animation solutions.
You will implement and maintain network optimized animation systems for modular gameplay features, working closely with the animation and gameplay teams to support second to second gameplay by implementing and modifying animations to reach the wanted gameplay feel and quality
- You will help maintain and expand the animation systems for core gameplay features and work on feature modularization animation support
- You will implement procedural and blueprint based animation systems to visually enhance the character locomotion and combat animations
- You will act as a bridge between the relevant stakeholders to effectively create a behavioral solution that accommodates technical and artistic demands
- You will implement control rigs for procedural animations and animation warping for large scale entities.
Your role is based preferably in Finland, Iceland or France, where we have our offices. We are open to discussing remote work but, we prefer to stay in the time zones between Helsinki and Reykjavik. We believe in good work-life balance and working where you are most productive.
Some success indicators for your role:
- You are familiar with various animation systems and solutions and can implement new gameplay animations in Unreal Engine
- You have a strong understanding of networking and replication with animation systems
- You have good communication skills and you feel comfortable working with multiple stakeholders, understanding their needs as well as communicating your solutions.
- Ability to create placeholder animations with keyframe animation is a great plus
